Cost: why Rinjani costs USD 152 or 469 – and which items the list price still leaves out on the mountain

The list prices: 48 options by version

List prices per person for two travellers from the Viator product data, in the operator's currency (USD; euros for Go Backpacker and L.A Rinjani; rupiah for Team Backpacker), converted at the price date. Sorted by version and price: first the two-day treks to the Senaru crater rim, then the two-day summit treks from Sembalun, the three-day treks, the four-day trek, the one-day versions. Tiers are shown with the option ('for two'). Blocked products are omitted.

Rinjani Excellent summit USD 146 applies only from eight persons per booking. The park fee: IDR 250,000 a day, since November 2025

Gunung Rinjani National Park sells its trekking tickets through the eRinjani system, tied to the person, with daily quotas. Since 3 November 2025 forestry ministry regulation 17/2025 applies: the main routes Senaru, Sembalun and Torean are class 1 and cost foreigners IDR 250,000 per person per day (previously 200,000), Indonesians pay 50,000 on weekdays and 75,000 at weekends; the side routes Aik Berik, Tetebatu and Timbanuh are class 2 at 200,000 for foreigners (park office, 7 November 2025). Calendar days in the park are counted: a two-day trek costs 500,000, a three-day 750,000, the four-day 1,000,000 rupiah – at the exchange rate of 28 September 2026 roughly USD 30, 45 and 60. Tickets already booked kept the old price; anyone extending days pays the new rate for the new days.

How operators handle it is the real price question on this route. 18 of the 36 packages list the fee as included – but Cakrawala writes '200k/day, 600,000' and Em Adventure 'IDR 150,000/day', both old rates; whether they charge the difference of 150,000 to 300,000 rupiah is stated nowhere. 13 exclude it: Lombok Trekking Info at 250,000 a day, Dhyns summit at 200,000, Jou at 750,000 for three days and '500,000' for the one-day trek, Lombok Volcano Trekking by PayPal invoice after booking. Five say nothing – Green Rinjani, Rinjani Hero (with both an exclusion ends at 'Mount Rinjani'), Dhyns crater rim, HaLoMi 4 days (unlike HaLoMi's three other products). If you book a package without the fee, you do not pay at the gate but through the operator, who buys the ticket in the app; cash or transfer in advance, depending on the house. An excluded fee with a stated amount is not a bad sign; an unmentioned one is a question before paying.

What the lists leave out – transfer, night, porters, insurance

Transfer. 21 packages do not get you to Senaru or Sembalun. The drive is the biggest open item: operator listings on Viator quote USD 125 for a private car Senaru–Senggigi and USD 150 Kuta–Senaru per vehicle (guide value; usually less on the street), divided by the group. Bemos via Bayan cost a few dollars but need changes and time. Anyone already on the Gilis takes the public boat to Bangsal and a car from there. The other way round, where you go after the trek matters: Cakrawala and Dhyns (summit) drive to Senggigi, Mataram or Bangsal, Go Backpacker and L.A Rinjani in the shared group only that far, HaLoMi and Syam all the way to the boat for Gili Trawangan.

Night before the trek. 22 packages leave it out. Senaru has simple homestays and guesthouses along the village street – Lombok Trekking Info names Villa Bamboe, Waroeng Senaru and Pondok Guru Bakti as lodgings of its private option, Samalas Villa Bambu. Nobody gives prices; we allow USD 15 to 35 per room as an estimate without evidence. Team Backpacker distinguishes 'basic' in budget and 'air-conditioning if available' in deluxe, HaLoMi and Go2Rinjani 'standard', Rinjani Excellent 'hot and cold water'.

Porters. All multi-day packages provide porters for tent, kitchen and food; you carry your own pack. An extra porter costs USD 22 a day at Green Rinjani and 25 at Rinjani Hero; the others list 'extra porter' without a price. Under the forestry ministry's rules announced in 2025, one porter carries for at most two foreign guests and 20 to 25 kilograms – Rinjani Trekking Center puts it this way: the porter carries food, drinks, gear and cooking kit, you carry your personal belongings.

Insurance. Since 1 October 2025 the park requires premium insurance with helicopter rescue for all trekkers; it is taken out with the ticket, and no amount is published in the official notices (CNA, park office). In May 2026 an injured Malaysian was flown off the Plawangan under exactly this policy (ANTARA). Eight operators list insurance – Syam (both), Rizal, Rinjani Trekking Center, Rinjani Excellent, Rinjani Hero (crater rim); Em Adventure does not –, mostly without scope; Go2Rinjani expressly excludes 'travel insurance'. Your own travel health insurance with mountain rescue remains necessary in any case.

Gear. Tent, sleeping bag, mat, toilet tent come with all; chair and table only in deluxe and private options; trekking poles with Rinjani Hero, Cakrawala (one-day), Dhyns summit (one pole), Lombok Trekking Info Sembalun; a warm jacket only with Dhyns summit. Rinjani Trekking Center rents jacket and poles for USD 5, Team Backpacker points to rental 'on the spot'. Headlamp, gloves, rain jacket and sturdy shoes are under 'bring your own' everywhere.

Group type and tier: why the same operator has three prices

Lombok Trekking Info sells the three-day trek three times: USD 250 in the 'big group' with 7 to 10 strangers (no chair, table, pillow), 260 in the group of 4 to 6, 340 private – and alone 260, 340 or 560. Dhyns does the same (shared group 180 with two litres of water, private 280 with three), Team Backpacker (budget ≈ IDR 4 m without fruit, deluxe 6.2 m with chair, table and AC room), Go Backpacker and L.A Rinjani (shared € 234 and € 237, private € 380 and € 337). The surcharge for 'private' buys above all your own pace on summit morning and one more porter; the route is the same, and on the Sembalun rim all tents stand side by side.

The tier by head count is the second axis. HaLoMi: 642 alone, 390 for two, 344 from five, 326 from ten (3 days). Go2Rinjani: 590, 365, 333 from four, 295 from seven. Rinjani Hero (2 days): 310 alone, 152 for two, 149 from eight. We show the price for two travellers everywhere because that is the most common booking; solo travellers do better with operators charging a flat price (Dewa 241, Samalas 180 and 300, Rinjani Trek Adventure 190 and 245, Rinjani Trekking Center 300 up to four persons) or a shared group (Dhyns 200 alone, Team Backpacker budget, Go Backpacker and L.A Rinjani from one person).

Five bills: from list price to trip price

Per person, travelling as a pair, in US dollars at the exchange rate of 28 September 2026. A question mark means no operator evidence, our estimate. We count travel from Bangsal or Senggigi at half the price of a private car; from Kuta or the airport it is more.

Cancellation and confirmation: what the price is worth in doubt

17 of the 36 products offer free cancellation – 16 up to 24 hours before, Rinjani Excellent (summit) up to three days: Dewa, Em Adventure, Go2Rinjani, Rinjani Excellent (both), Samalas (both), Syam (both), Rizal, Dhyns (all three), Rinjani Trek Adventure (both), Green Rinjani, Cakrawala (one-day). 19 refund nothing, including all products from HaLoMi, Lombok Trekking Info, Jou, Rinjani Hero, Team Backpacker, Go Backpacker, L.A Rinjani, Rinjani Trekking Center, Lombok Volcano Trekking and Cakrawala (3 days). Whether an operator is accommodating during a park closure like September 2026 the platform does not say; Lombok Trekking Info, Cakrawala, Team Backpacker, Jou, Rinjani Trekking Center and most cancellable products reserve the right to cancel 'for bad weather' themselves, then with refund or a new date. Confirmation: instant with 30 products; HaLoMi, Team Backpacker, Go Backpacker and L.A Rinjani confirm only after review, up to nine days – book at short notice and you may hear back after your departure. Booking cut-off ranges from zero hours (Rinjani Excellent, Dhyns summit, Rizal) to 24 hours (HaLoMi 3 days, Lombok Trekking Info, Dewa, Cakrawala, Green Rinjani) and 10:30 pm the day before (Rinjani Hero, Team Backpacker). Payment is to Viator; only Lombok Volcano Trekking additionally asks for a PayPal payment for the fee – a payment off the platform, without its buyer protection.

Questions about cost
