Private room, comfort and other surcharges
Private room: ZGO charges USD 25 extra for two nights in a private room (option TG3); Hong Hao VND 400,000 for “all nights”, explicitly for solo travellers. QT and Vision make no statement – couples may get a double room anyway, but it is not documented.
Upgraded lodging: only Hong Hao offers an upgrade to a 4-star hotel or deluxe bungalow (VND 800,000 ≈ USD 31 extra). With the other three it stays a homestay.
Return to a different place: ZGO drops you in Hanoi, at the airport, in Sapa or Ninh Binh at no extra charge; Ha Long or Cat Ba cost USD 10 per person extra, subject to availability. Vision's bus ends in Hanoi; with QT and Hong Hao you arrange onward travel yourself or through the operator.
Children: ZGO bookable from age 4, QT 3 to 17, Vision from 5, Hong Hao 5 to 11 – child prices are not in our data.
What you need in cash on the loop
Permit (if the operator collects it), drinks and snacks at viewpoints, tips for rider and hosts, entrance fees for optional stops not on the list (Hong Hao lists “tickets entrance” as included; the others list no entrance fees). ATMs exist in Ha Giang City, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac; not in the villages along the way. A guide figure for three days: VND 500,000 to 1,000,000 (USD 20 to 40) in cash, excluding tips.
Questions about cost
Why does Viator say “from USD 136” when Easy Rider costs USD 195?
Because Viator shows the cheapest option price and at ZGO that is the self-driving option. If you want Easy Rider you pay that option's price. That is why we show every option separately.
Is Hong Hao cheaper than ZGO?
Without bus yes (about USD 189 vs 195), with bus both ways no longer (about USD 212 vs 195). ZGO includes the bus anyway. In return, Hong Hao puts you in a hotel in Dong Van on the first night.
Do prices change?
Yes. Viator list prices carry a start date but no end date; the availability data also contain special prices for individual dates that we do not evaluate. The price on the booking page for your date applies.
