What the operator provides – and what only some lists say
With all twelve products: a licensed mountain guide, the night at the refuge (or tent, or gîte), meals from lunch on the first day to lunch on the second, and the transfer from Marrakech. The refuge provides mattress and blankets, Toubkal Hiking tents. Beyond that it gets thin: a mule for luggage is named by six products, a cook by five, water by two, tea and coffee by three, a sleeping bag by one. If you book a product without a mule, you carry everything yourself – 1,470 m of ascent with sleeping bag, water and winter jacket is a different day from one with a daypack.
Before booking, one message with three questions pays off: Does a mule carry my luggage? Is a sleeping bag included or rentable? Are crampons and ice axe provided in winter, and what do they cost? The answers are the same with almost all – but only those who ask have them in writing.
